REVIEW | Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam Ex

REVIEW | Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam Ex

Hi guys, it’s been a long time since my last post. I’ve just moved to Taipei, Taiwan for my studying and things are very hard in this first month. I’m busy doing a lot of things and getting used to a new environment. I’m exhausted every day, have a less healthy diet, drink less water, ... As a result, my skin reacts very badly. It gets dry, lots of texture, redness, and looks so dull that I have to use foundation whenever I go out, which I didn’t need to before. Luckily, I brought this Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam Ex to Taipei.

Ingredients: Water, Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate, Acrylates Copolymer, Peg-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate, Butylene Glycol, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate Spirodela Polyrrhiza Extract, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, Castanea Crenata (Chestnut) Shell Extract, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Coix Lacryma-Jobi Ma-Yuen Seed Extract, Decyl Glucoside, Dextrin, Disodium Edta, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Sodium Chloride, Ethylhexylglycerin, Isostearic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Potassium Hydroxide, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Peg-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

Packaging: A typical pump bottle and it comes with a clip to prevent accidental pump. Normally, you can throw the clip away but I keep it for travelling purpose.

The clip

Mine is 50ml-sized bottle

This is full-sized (200 ml) bottle

Texture: A clear gel-typed liquid. You foam it up before putting it into your face.

Scent: It smells herbal, in a way of traditional medicine. Some people may not like it but I’m fine with the scent.

My thoughts: Sulwhasoo claims it “A mild cleansing foam that effectively removes impurities while leaving the skin moisturized”. I agree with the brand that this is a mild cleansing foam. Like I said, my skin is behaving badly so anything that is harsh won’t work for me. Fortunately, Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam Ex doesn’t irritated my skin at all. After foaming the cleanser and lathering it up to my face, I’ll start to massage gently and it does a good job on removing my excess oil or any other impurities without drying out my skin or stinging my eyes. My skin feels so soft and smooth afterwards. It, though doesn’t make my redness disappear completely, does calm my redness.

However, I can’t speak for its ability to remove make-up alone as I always use a micellar water before washing my face with the cleanser. My make-up is removed completed after double cleansing.
In conclusion,  I would recommend Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam Ex for anyone with dry/combination skin or looking for a mild cleanser. Those who have oily skin, I wouldn’t recommend that much because this cleanser leaves added moisture and you may feel like it leaves residue on your skin.

My rating: 4/5
